Does that mean that this is a separate module, e.g. is it possible to prepare the 'disk' outside the IOT2050?

Hello there,

the M.2 Variants come with internal storage. During production, Industrial OS is getting pre-installed. Of course you can use this storage also as a partition for your OS on a SD Card.

Thanks for your answer. As I understand the Industrial OS is at the e-mmc and not on the M.2. So if it's possible to boot from the M.2-disk (if the proper M.2-disk is installed) installation of he Industrial OS on the M.2-disk should be possible. Q: is it possible to boot from the M.2-disk?

Hi all, 

there is no M.2 SSD installed. It comes with eMMc as well, just the mPCIe interface is replaced with an M.2 interface.

 Ok, Maybe I wasn't clear with my question.

Suppose I am willing to open the IOT2050 to install an M.2 interface SSD disk:

1. Is it possible to boot from this SSD disk?
2. What's maximum size of the SSD disk?

Why? The reason is that we would prepare the SSD disk outside the IOT2050 e.g. make a copy and clone the disk. If we use an e-mmc we couldn't do that because this e-mmc is soldered onto the PCB.
