IOT2050: Update software base image

Steffaso81 Member Joined: 4/28/2015 Last visit: 12/16/2025 Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Hello everyone, I have this hardware that I use and with this software installed: 6ES7-0BA00-0YA2 - FS 02 Used image: IOT2050_Example_Image_V1.2.2 npm: 7.5.2 node: v12.22.12 Node-RED: v2.0.6 I need to update the versions of npm, node and node-red to update the palettes because they stopped working and needed an update. But with normal linux commands I can't, when I force the update everything stops working. Does anyone have any help on this ?

To update the versions of npm, Node.js, and Node-RED on your IOT2050 device with the Example-Image, you can try the following steps: Update npm: sudo npm install -g npm@latest Update Node.js: sudo npm cache clean -f sudo npm install -g n sudo n stable Update Node-RED: sudo npm install -g --unsafe-perm node-red These steps should update the versions without breaking your installation. I have gone so far as to do the following but still without success. I upgraded npm to version 8.19.4 and everything still worked, if I tried to do subsequent upgrades it would already crash here I did the n update, this also did the last npm update for me. Once this node-red was done, it stopped fuonctioning. was done updating node red to the latest version but then it no longer starts automatically. If I try to start it in manual mode I get the error: Segmentation fault. I am still looking for the solution but if someone can help me any help is valuable

I was able to get the latest version of node-red working, it is not the optimal way but it allows me to have a functional starting point As first thing I updated npm to version 8.19.4 Logged in as root npm install -g npm@8.19.4 Reboot IOT2050 Update n npm cache clean-f npm install -g n Reboot IOT2050 Remove nodeJS apt-get remove nodejs apt autoremove Reboot IOT2050 Update node-RED npm install -g --unsafe-perm node-red Reboot IOT2050 Up to here then the old instance of node red (2.0.0) starts Then I modified the service that starts by editing the node-red.service file located in the path /lib/systemd/system nano /lib/systemd/system/node-red.service and modify the ExecStart line with ExecStart=/usr/local/bin/node-red -u %h/.node-red save and close the file Reboot IOT2050 I now end up with the latest version of node-red and the ability to update the palettes
