I am a little bit confused about the definition of EP digital input on S120. I found in manual, that it is possible to program safety functions with it, which to me doesn't make sense since it is not safety input, simply put it is not yellow-colored. I thought that safety input means that it has protection from parasite voltages and similar things. What is the difference between F-DI on G-120 F and DI?

The EP terminal on the motor module (or line module) is a plain digital input. It is used in conjunction (second path) with another plain digital input on a control unit.

This combination allows you to program a Basic feature safety system.

Safe Stop 1, Safe Torque Off or Safe Brake Control.

Simply removing the EP signal on a drive that has not been configured WILL NOT stop the drive UNLESS it has been programmed via the Drives Safety Integrated Function in Starter/Scout. You would not believe how many people were not aware of that, because the terminal is labelled as Enable Pulses.

Generally, the higher order Extended Safety functions (SLS, SOS, SS2, SSM and SBR) are utilised with F-DI inputs (not exclusively), which are available via a TM54F module or you can use Profisafe.
