840D: Data acquisition via OPC

felix100 Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hi! I have got a question. I want to read data form Sinumerik 840D, PCU 50, Advanced 6.x.x I know that there is a posibillity to read it via OPC. In OP12 there is Ethernet port. I would like to read such data as - axis speed, axis movement and store it do database. Can you tell me what software/hardware should I use to manage with it? I understood that software installed at OP12 is an OPC Server. If it is possible just to plug cross ethernet cable to OP12 and PC computer and read data form Sinumerik? I have to know name of OPC Server and adresses of variables that I`m interested in. I`m also not sure if OPC Server make avaliable data that I need (speed etc.). Sorry for this question but I dont have any experience in Sinumerik CNC Machines. could you write me step by step what should i do? Best Regards. Edit: Maybe data acquisition is possible via Profibus DP? Paweł

shanny Posts: 44 Rating: (0)	Hi, You can perform full data aquasition over the OPI link. Basically you can write a program in VB to pick up the data you require. What you effectively are doing is the same as the HMI advanced software. All this does is talk to the 840D and transfer values backwards and forwards and displays them. There is no step by step guide as you must write all the code yourself. The data available is in one of the manuals available on DOCONCD. I am sorry but I cannot remember which one. Maybe somebody else can help further shanny

Do I need to make any changes in Sinumerik softawre? Or I`m able to acquire this data only by ethernet cable and necessary software at My computer side?
