Read Drive Parameter FB

MurthyD Posts: 39 Rating: (0)	Hi, I am using the Read Drive Parameter Function Block in SCOUT Command Library. I have declared an instance for the FB and the following parameters have been passed to the function block: myRetstructretreaddriveparameter := _readdriveparameter( // ioid := INPUT ,logaddress := (2000) // ,doid := 255 ,parameternumber := (26) for eg. // ,numberofelements := 0 // ,subindex := 0 ,nextcommand := WHEN_COMMAND_DONE ,commandid := _getcommandid() ); 2000 is the address assigned by the controller. The problem that I am facing is that sometimes my controller goes to Stop mode and in the diagnostic buffer it is displaying a time out of the task. I have assigned this particular program in Background Timer Interrup task. If I use the Command in "NextCommand"as Immediately in the FB the block does not get executed. Please guide me as to how to use this particuler FB without the controller going to stop mode. Regards.

ChristophD Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 5/12/2006 Last visit: 9/18/2025 Posts: 22710 Rating: (3071)	Hello, the code with WHEN_COMMAND_DONE shouldn't be executed in a cyclic Task (Background, TimerInterrupt, Servosync,Iposync,Iposync2) because the executiontime of the command can be longer as the cycletime of the task. When you use WHEN_COMMAND_DONE then the task is blocked until the command is finished, but the task must finished in the projected cycletime. When you have a cycletime of 500ms for Background then the program must finished in 500ms, when the command has a executiontime of 600ms then you get a timeout (overflow) of this task. You can use a motiontask for this command, a motiontask is a non cyclic task. When you use IMMEDIATELY then look at the returnvalue of myRetstructretreaddriveparameter.functionresult. With the first call of the function the retValue normally is 7001, then you call the command again and wait until the functionresult is 0000, then the command was finished. regards christoph
