Hello all,

For the 1500 series CPU: 6ES7516-3FP03-0AB0 (henceforth "3FP03") we want to create a TIA Portal project. However, in neither TIA Portal v16 or v17 Update 6 can I find (support for) this type of CPU. 

I have also checked the Totally Integrated Automation Updater to find if compatibility is provided through .HSP support package(s) expansion of the hardware catalog that need to be installed, but I cannot find any such package referring to the "3FP03" CPU.

I could also not find any documents, references or downloads on the Siemens mall industry page of the "3FP03" CPU regarding TIA portal support.

Which packages do I need to install to obtain support for the CPU: 6ES7516-3FP03-0AB0 ?

I see in the SIOS page that support is also offered for older TIA portal versions if the CPU is configured as CPU type 6ES7516-3FN02-0AB0 (henceforth "3FN02"). We have previously attempted this as well but this gives us an error: "Error while loading: Loading has been aborted!"

I do note that it however says "...with older TIA Portal versions configurable as 6ES7516-3FN02-0AB0." on the SIOS page. Does this mean that support in these older TIA versions is only offered through the online access feature of TIA portal? I.e. changing assigned IP address, PROFINET name, etcetera and the diagnostics functions? and that thus with the TIA portal v16, v17 we CAN NOT program the "3FP03" type CPU?

Or is there perhaps something I am missing in TIA portal V16 or V17 to ensure compatibility?

I have tried this with both an existing project and a completely new empty project, both configured with the CPU type 3FN02. Both give this exact same error.

I also checked the diagnostics buffer, this gives "Module Exists. Unknown" response.

Datasheet (available easily via Siemens Industry Mall) states:

Engineering Software:
V18 (FW V3.0); with older TIA Portal versions configurable as 6ES7516-3FN02-0AB0

For V16/17, 3FN02 is correct.

Hello, would like to ask if there is any new information to this topic where Im facing same issue currently. 3FP03 on TIA16 running as an 3FN02 in HW confing and unable to load. Maybe u need at least TIA17 to run 3FN02 on v29 firmware where at TIA16 only v28 FW is avaible. Solution for me is rn change the CPU to 3FN02 so i can implement it in TIA16. 

Do you have successfull to configure these CPU on TIA PORTAL V16/V17? I have the same problem. I had changed the Card, firmware, ... but I hadn´t successfull. 

I don´t know what can I do to work with these CPu on TIA PORTAL V17.

Typically, Siemens numbering which allows for using a newer model would mean the following (in your situation):

Hardware Configuration
  Offline    Online
  -3FN02     -3FN03
  -3FP02     -3FP03

You have neither of those situations.
