We have a site, where we have DCC V4 upgraded from V3. For the clients we use Click once web clients (Remote Client). In V3 they worked fine, without a problem. In Desigo CC V.4 Click once stops working every 1-2 days (when you click on elements it's just freezes, blank page), and a simple Web Client doesn't work too, but the main client (Desigo CC itself - startGMS.bat - Siemens.Gms.ApplicationFramework.exe - without any web and IIS) on the server works. After project restart (stop/run project) it works again. Or when you "Stop-Play" website it works again. More of that - it's sufficcient to do this: SMC - Websites - Project - WebApplicationName - Edit - Align with Server - Save. And after that it all works fine for another 1-2 days. In Windows Event Viewer (Windows Logs - Application) on the Desigo CCv4 Server there's some warnings from ASP.NET 4.0.30319.0 source when web clients stop working: (I used some * symbols for some names for privacy) Event code: 3001 Event message: The request has been aborted. Can't see anyting relating to "folder sharing" in the project and web configuration, except this. As I see we didn't enable "Project Shares" section of the main project configuration. Don't know if it could help with our problem, but at least we should try this solution. By the way, we have 2 projects with almost the same configuration (both with "Project Shares" disabled), and only 1 of them is freezing for web-clients.

Gold Expert Joined: 11/8/2017 Last visit: 8/23/2025 Posts: 355 Rating: (201)	Hi, You didn't mention the revision of CC V4 that you're using, but have you ensured that any available Patches are installed onto the system? As you have 2 similar systems, one with issues, and one without - if both CC's are the same revision, have you compared the SMC settings and more importantly the associated IIS settings for each of the Websites on each system? For the 'Project Share', the configuration of this is only applicable when using a proper CC Client installation on another networked PC (rather than using Web / ClickOnce / FlexClient), and is also applicable when using a Distributed System. This is not the cause of your issues. I would suggest you maybe speak to your Local Siemens Support people. To try and help you, they may ask for Remote Access to the system, or more info from the Event Viewer or more info from the CC Trace Viewer. If you are still having issues, come back to us please. As i know we didn't install any of them. Or you mean Windows updates/patches - we have planty of them installed on the server. 2 projects (Building automation (this is with issue with stability of the web-client) + Fire (stable)) on 1 Windows Server SMC settings almost identical (except CCom port, System name and some paths), and IIS settings almost identical as I see in IIS Manager (as I know we didn't changed any IIS settings from default except "Connection Time-out" limit (now it's 250s)). Could you please tell where I can read a guide about how to install "proper CC Client installation on another networked PC"? In Menu-Help file I could find information only about web-oriented clients. Is this way compatible for our client stations in the same network in our overall system configuration? I mean 2 projects are on 1 Windows Server with MS SQL and a physical key with licenses on it. And 3 client stations with Windows 7 in the same network. And about Local Siemens Support people... They suggest to enlarge connection Time-out in IIS manager, but it didn't help us.

CJ. Gold Expert Joined: 11/8/2017 Last visit: 8/23/2025 Posts: 355 Rating: (201)	Hi, For the Client install that I refer to, think of it as being similar to a traditional Thick-Client. The install on a Client PC is done using a similar method to when you originally installed the software on the main server. When you start up the install for CC, you get the option for 'Server', 'Client' or 'FEP'. The Client PC runs what is basically the main CC UI, but it uses File Sharing to access the project directory on the main CC server. It has it's own SMC, and it also needs a client license to be available. Have a look at the link below and the attached PNG file. Client Info I know these type of issues can be frustrating, but I'm sure that the 'we don't know' answer from your local Siemens Support people is not their final answer. If they are struggling to find a solution for you, and haven't already done so, I would suggest you consider asking them to escalate the issue to the main Technical Support people in Zug where the issue can be analysed in more detail. By the way, when you try to connect "Click Once" client loads about 2-3 minutes and then says "The client profile could not be retrieved from the server. The user will be unloaded." (something like that, couse we use Russian language and I translated this error message on English) Any ideas? Should try to install "thick" client as a temporary workaround method. I hope I can handle it. There are doubts about how the license system (and MS SQL) works.

We found we can temporarily get it working again by restarting the IIS. It works anywhere from a day or two up to a week. We have a call in, but Tech support has been busy so it's taking a while to get it fixed.

Even with the information missing it was working for a few days then it would break again. After we reentered the information it has been working well, well the last few weeks it has been. Another thing to check is if the username and password are correct. I think in version 3 I had to reenter this.
