Hello there, 

I am having techincal issues with communication between PLC and remote IO units via profinet.  In the project I have 3x Scalance XB205 which are connected into optical ring. Each Scalance has ethernet connection to PLC (S1500) or remote IO unit (IM 155-5 PN ST). 

I have assigned each device an IP, Name, created network and topology. 

After downloading hardware configuration, in diagnostic buffer I have:

IO device deactivated (configured initial state - Event id: 16# 02:0444)

Ping is OK on all devices.

I cannot find any topics related or help inside TIA portal.

I am using TIA portal v13, step 7 SP1 update 9

I have. First thing I've done was setting up IP on each device and assign-ed it name. As I enter online it says for all devices except PLC itself that are deactivated. 

In diagnostic buffer I get (As I have written in original post): 

IO device deactivated (configured initial state - Event id: 16# 02:0444)

The same thing appears even with PLC SIM

Hi, Had the same problem, If you have something with "Prioritized Startup", until you see it on the network, the others io systems will not start to recive or send, you need to uncheck it.

I also have the same message but non of the above solutions works for me. I have a CPU1512SP F 1-PN connected to the Universal robot. Is there any other ideas? Is there something related to cycle time and functions for transferring data on the Robot side?

 Have you tried making the Profinet update time of that connection longer? Sometimes the stanard 2ms update time is too quick.

Hello!

During the PLC training I met with  problem described above. This means all PN devices were deactivated but PLC 1517F does not have any error. My HW configuration looked as below:
1. CPU 1517F-3 PN/DP
2. 2x IM 155-6 PN HF
3. Siemens KP8
4. EX245 PN FX -> SMC valve island
5. Scalance X202-2P IRT
6. IPC477E Pro19" -> not connected phisically (we were using RunTime becase we did not have the phisical panel)

Topology was connected as follow:
1st route -> S7-1500 -> KP8 -> Scalance port1
2nd route -> Scalance port2 -> 1st ET200 -> 2nd ET200 -> SMC port1

In my case the problem was in the SMC, because port2 in profinet setting was set to "Set Partner by user program" instead of "Any partner".

The solution was to change port 2 "partner port" settings to "Any partner". In next cases like this I'll start diagnose from the not used ports in the topology.

I hope so this answer will be helpfull for somebody in the future.
