I use this MB_CLIENT in a S7-1500 cpu, when i download some changes, sometimes the status of MB_CLIENT hits 80A3. What would i need to do, programatically, make the MB_CLIENT solve this error by it self?

Right now, i have to put the cpu into stop and then run, to release the connection so the MB_CLIENT can work again.

It does not always happen when i download this block with the MB_CLIENT inside, but maybe half of the time.

80A3
ID is used by a connection created by the user program, which uses the same connection description at the CONNECT parameter.

I know it's been a while since you asked this question but I thought I answer anyhow, as it could be someone else's problem.

I just had the same problem. In my case, I was reading data using multiple MB_Client function blocks. I was using the same client ID for all of them. I gave them different values each (2, 3,..), it's fixed.

I had the same issue communicating to Lab View with my MB Server block.  I had to put the plc into stop mode and then back into run.  I found the TDISCON block that allowed me to terminate the connection ID and was then able to reconnect with the MB Server block using the same ID.  Thought I would post this on this old thread since there was never a solid answer to it.

Can you share how you did this trick ?After some months of polling different modbus TCP servers with a 1515 cpu i ran into error #80A3 . Activating the Disconnect input at the MB_Client block does not help . ( status goes to #7000 and back to #80a3 ) I have different ID numbers for each connection (parameter "MB_Conn_DB_V4".server_n.ID )

How did you restart your comms without stopping the plc ?

I have a 1516 cpu, and i connect to a small plc with modbus tcp

I can read the register correctly, calling the function every second

I can write the register correctly, calling the function every second

I try to call the read and the write altenativelly (every second), and the system don't work. one function work perfect, the second return error code 80A3 in the status.

What is the correct system for reading and writing some register ??

This is the code i use :

every second i set M62.0 (receive) or M63.0 (send)

If i set only M62.0 the receive works, if i set only M63.0 the send works, if i set alternatively M62.0 or M63.0 one of the trasmission don't work, with status = 80A3

I try to recreate the istance DB, stop/run the plc, change the register but nothing change.

The error status 80A3 can happen in some cases after downloading to the CPU . Use a TDISCON instruction with the correct connection ID will clear the error .

No need to stop the CPU .

I have been working on a few Modbus applications recently (RTU and TCPIP) and have been thinking what is the best method for reading and writing from multiple areas of a single or multiple slaves.

I find that in a lot of cases the required data is in different areas of the modbus register table and also in different formats, bool, int real etc.

This means that I may need to read 3 ints from 40001 to 40003 and 2 reals from 40049, and write to address 40089 for example. However the client/master block have a start address and how many subsequent addresses to access.

I have played with using 1 client/master block and an array of commands where the array index changes the address, length and read/write mode with good success but it can get a little busy to diagnose.

I have also seen an application recently where the engineer used one instance of the TCPIP client block called repeatedly but with different addresses, mode, length but with the same instance, this is easier to diagnose and he says this works for him but based on what I see during a test today I am not sure.

I think it is a good conversation to have as I think there are multiple ways to do this.
