I'm sorry but I probably do  not understand what you are writing as I'm still having some doubts.

As per what you wrote if I use an absolute encoder I've to set manually the modulo lenght. 

Are "limitswitches" values the values to set for the modulo lenght?  If my encoder has a range form 0 to 8192 do I've to set limitswitchmin to 0 and limitswitchmax to 8191 as per in the manual?

When I power on the plc I've no reading at all. I only can read a value if I set manually those variable inside the DB instance. the reading is zero even if I move the encoder for a few degrees ( less than a turn).

I will try to do some test but I really appreciate a reply on my doubt about where setting the modulo.

I tried to set those values but nothing changed: speed is shown but position still zero.

Still need the value from hardware config set on istance DB to have the position output.

I see inside the block that actual counting form board is read but the calculation of actual position uses variables at zero because not read form hardware config. If I set them manually everything works.

On which manual do you extract that eplanation regarding limit switches? It is different than application manual I'm using.

I will upload some images later of the FB internal code in runtime.

I've attached a picture of the part of the code where I see the problem and a video showing the actual position moving according to the encoder real movement BUT no calculation ( always zero) as some internal tags are set to zero.

If I manually set "statDataSetTM.Channel_Params[#channel].Values.UpperCountingLimit to the same value as hardware config ( 25 bits = 33554432 ) it works without any problem.

Looking to the code I assume that this value is read form RCREC instruction during initial config of block.

Am I missing a parameter to set ?

thanks for the reply.

i also think there is a problem on RDREC instruction.

I've doucle check HWID since the beginning and I already opened a ticket on hotline but they only suiggest to switch to Motion object. For some internal reason we wnat to use this block without using tech objects.

I wll ask again on hotline ticket to look here and see what they reply.
