Is there a specific procedure for Windows patching of WinCC systems (no WSUS)?

I have read the links on Windows patches (Which Microsoft patches are recommended for operating SIMATIC WinCC V7 ("Security ... - ID: 18752994 - Industry Support Siemens ) 

But there isn't a real procedure in that link.

1. Is it necessary to Close Project and Exit Runtime?

2. Is it OK to just do the approved (excluding the non-approved) patches and just restart Windows while WinCC is running?

Can there be any damage done to the SQL database if we don't Close Project and Exit Runtime?

Any experiences?

I recommend you to make a backup of the SQL database and then install it.

Here is how to make a database backup:

Under "Tag Logging > Files" you will find the database settings:

You must define the backup for the database:

Once it is configured, when the backups are generated, you must copy them to the "CommonArchiving" folder. In this way with the connect/disconnect backup buttons of the controls (like the curve control) you will be able to visualise the information of these curves.  Thanks - if we are already continuously backing up the Tag and Alarm data to an external drive through WinCC Tag Management "extra backup" feature, would this suffice to comply with what you're suggesting ?

And are there any other considerations?
