Newbieproblem with connecting an OP177B

TracyH Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Hello, I'm trying to use an OP177B in association with an S7-224XP and Wincc Flexible 2008. I connected the PC with an USB/PPI (6ES7 901-3DB30-0XA0) to the CPU S7-224XP on port 0, set the PG/PC interface in the configuration screen to "PC/PPI cable(PPI)", properties PPI : Adres:1, Timeout:10s, and under network parameters -> Transmission Rate:9.6kbps, Highest Station Adress:31. Advanced PPI and Multiple master network i left unchecked. Tab "Local connection" set connection to USB So far so good, i can download my project in Micro/WIN to the CPU and got it working. Secondly i connected the OP177B with the profibuscable (6XV1 830-OEH10 - both dipswitches are ON) to the CPU224XP on port 1. After powering the OP177B on, i went to transfer settings, unchecked channel 1 (via RS232/PPIcable), checked under channel 2 "enable channel" and "remote control" to MPI/Profibus. Then under advanced settings i checked "Panel is the only master on the bus", Adres:1, Time-out:10sec,and under network parameters -> Transmission Rate:187,5kbps, Highest Station Adress:31. When i press the Transfer, nothing happens. So i guess i messed up somewhere. Any idea what i did wrong here? Thanks!

Else, I think that the OP power is not enough to power on the PC adapter. If it has an ethernet port, try transferring through it. I tried it and it worked well. just adjust the IP adresses and everything will be fine.

TracyH Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	There are no LEDs on the cable. The OP is powered by an external sitop (24VDC) so that's not the problem, in fact the OP is working great, it's just the communication from the PC to the OP that's not working, and i don't want it to go through LAN but through Profibus :-(

TracyH Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Thank you for the help so far, but like i said, i'm no professional here.Connection from PC->CPU = ok now but I still can't transfer from Wincc Flexible 2008 to the OP170B. However, when i download a project from the PC to the S7-224XP, a blue screen pops up the OP where it says something like "connection opened...". This tells me the connection is ready, right? But when i hit the "Transfer" button on the OP, nothing happens...so what else can there be wrong?

Only after this you must download your project to OP. It should be connected. To find out what is your PCs MPI address you should go to PG/PC interface then select your MPI capable card and click properties. Here you should see address. Its 1 by default. If this is too dificult then you can change MPI address of OP to something non default, for example 9 or 10. Then try again.
