Thanks - Vithu Hello, The mentioned statmnt is correct. I think we are talking here on PM340 with MLFB: 1SE11-3UA0, attached picture that showing its technical specification. So, as we can see, rated input current with line reactor is 1.3 A. rated input current without line reactor is 1.7 A. Thus because normally the line reactors limit lower frequency harmonics that are fed back into the supply. Also they used to smooth the voltage spikes. so the current will be lower in case of using these line reactors. Here's attached a data sheet for line reactor and you will found in it which line reactors should be ordered with which power modules. In your case, it should be: 3CC00-2AD3 Regards, Attachment Line Reactor.zip (372 Downloads)

Gruss Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hi Thanks. We all know the functions of choke but the currents should not vary. If u havea site running , check the currents with the meters before the choke and after the choke.The currents after and before has to be same.Sorry , I disgree.- Vithu

But If we are talking about harmonics, you have to measure the harmonics before and after the chocks. You can measure it via power meter. Siemens have Sentron PAC 4200 which can measure harmonics index and THD if you want. Here's its partnumber 7KM4 212-0BA00-3AA0. With best regards,

Next, apparently the input current depends on the motor load and line impedance. The impedance shown is for 1% u_K. When you add a line reactor, the total impedance increases for the system which seems to be the reason for the linecurrent to be lower. I would tend to select a line reactor (personal choice). Hope this helps...

If we take a specific PM340 (ie 1.3A unit) the output current rating to the motor 1.3A remains the same with or without the reactor. If the PM340 is outputing 1.3A and there is no reactor we will have to assume there will be more current harmonics on the line and the apparrent current will be higher (rule of thumb 1.2 - 1.3 factor). Taking this into consideration when we size the line components with no line reactor there will be more apparent current and the transformer sizing needs to take this into consideration. This is why it indicates the higher input current without the reactor. Hope this helps.
