Connection OP77B to PC

I use a cable RS232/MPI ( 6ES7 972-0CA23-0XA0 ) with adaptor RS232/USB because my pc not RS232, but I'm a error message in WinCC Flexible 2008 : "A connection could not be established. Please check your settings, ports, cable". I tried connecting directly with a USB cable (PC to OP77B) and I have a message saying that the version of the panel is not good when WinCC is update. Another problem, light of cable RS232/MPI is not switch on Information : version of OP77B is : Bootloader 1.02/03.1.2004, Image V07.02.02.0_1.67 Thanks

JullioC Posts: 16 Rating: (1)	Hello you should check the switches near to the conector, because they enables you to change betwen RS232 PPI or 485 or DP. perhaps the problem can be there. also the connector has the same switches, you has to check they are set for RS232 PPI, and also has to check the speed seted on the connector and go to the control panel in the HMI and allow the RS232 connection and set the same speed that in the cable, before try to download from wincc check to select MPI conection and the same speed. maybe the problem are the switches or the configuration. if you need more details, let me know

I think must be possible to program this panel whit the MPI cable that you says.
but be carefull the cable betwen the MPI adapter and the PC must have the configuration showed in the file. (it must come whit the adapter)

Bundy Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	I'm lost in all these cable. I have another cable PC/PPI 9ES7-901-3BF00-0XA0. SD Card is a simple card to camera. To transfer the project from Winc I select : Serie - Com3 - speed 19200 In Transfer Setting OP77B : - Serial Setteing : Enable (remote on) - Select Channel2 : MPI/DP - Channel2 : Enable (remote on) - MPI/DP Adress : 1 - MPI/DP Baudrate : 19.2 KB I do not have rather made a mistake in the settings ? JullioC Posts: 16 Rating: (1)	Hello Bundy remember that you set on the panel In Transfer Setting OP77B : - Serial Setteing : Enable (remote on) - Select Channel2 : MPI/DP - Channel2 : Enable (remote on) - MPI/DP Adress : 1 - MPI/DP Baudrate : 19.2 KB then the switch on the 972-0ca23-0xa0 must be on 19.2KB/s then on wincc must be the transfer configured like this: mode:MPI/DP Adress: 1 now whit the other cable must be easier (6ES7-901-3BF00-0XA0) you must go tho the panel and, must change the chanel2 MPI/DP to ethernet because you cannot leave MPI and PPI at the same time, after that in the same screen you must enable: chanel1: Serial Via RS232/PPI and disable Remote Control what i can see is that maybe the conector is in the wrong place to this configuration (on the panel) try the other one. on wincc before to transfer you must configure: mode: RS232/PPI Multi-Master Cable port: COMX (depedns of your PC) speed: try first whit 57600KB/Sec always is easier whit the PPI cable because this admits multiple Masters. tell me if you have troubles whit the transfer.

Bundy Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	I found problems while trying on a PC with RS232 and: - Do not use Cable PC / MPI or PC / PPI, but a simple RS232 cable. - The adapter does not work USB/RS232 I also learned that for my laptop, I could use a card PCMCIA/rs232 because it is directly connected to the bus. But we need a card with special standards or protocol because on internet I found card to 30 € to 200 €

I don't think the usb/rs232 (if its correctly intalled) could be a problem becsause i've made multiple transfers whit this adapter. i have a question: when you conect the PPI adapter to the panel it turns on the light on one side of the adapter? if not maybe the comunication port is damaged. (you could need a reparation) did you check that all DIP switches on the back of the panel are up? another question is: the panel has comunication whit the PLC.?
