Connection to MP377 via VPN and router

I have there two CPU 315 2PN/DP , two MP 377 and some IMs connected to CPUs via PROFINET. I want to have access to my network via VPN. Customer (who ordered the system) will configure VPN connection to his network, but only to entire network where other device (PCs, PLCs.....) are connected. To separate my network (and to have possibility to adress my devices freely) from the rest of the network, I am thinking about using my own router. And here is the point where I am not sure how to configure my devices to have access to all of them. I think that I will have an access to PLCs using option "Use router" in PG/PC interface (picture PLCconn.jpg) (Customer will create VPN connection to network IP: 10.8.xxx.xxx, subnet mask: 255.255.0.0) But I am not sure if I will have connection to MP377 panels in order to downlad the project. Do I have to configure my panels in special way or everything is done by router? Attachment PLCconn.JPG (185 Downloads)

You can't reach it behind other router, but maybe NAT can help you ? I've never tried it and it is not helping with PLCs, but with MP377 it could work. Worth a try. You just need to know port number which siemens uses for transfering projects. Or you can set several DMZ in the router for MPs. Other way is to configure VPN in your router and set customer's router to just pass through your VPN requests. I would choose this option.

If I see the IP Network ID of the CPU / CP you have... and the IP Network ID of the Router... they do not match. As far as I know it is absolutely possible to download configurations over VPN connections to Panels too... So this may not be any problem. Please get a correctly configured VPN connection build up. Best regards J_Bell Yes, J_Bell, router address is not correct. I attached this pisture when I had small knowledge about using router with PLC's. I made some tests and now I know solutions of my problems. This pdf was very helpful : http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/26662448 To download configuration to panels it is necessary to use S7Ethernet instead of ETHERNET and transfer configuration to router address of public site.
