Interfacing the 224XP PLC with a 4x16 Line LCD

caleno Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hi, I want to know if it is possible to interface the 224XP PLC with a 4x16 Line LCD from http://www.matrixorbital.com/ . The LCD supports RS-232 communication, but my PLC is communicating with my computer via USB/PPI Multi-Master Cable. Can I use the other RS-232 port on the PLC to communicate with the LCD? Can I use the FreePort Mode on the PLC? Is there a link on how to do this? Thank you,

Helmut_13 Posts: 2930 Rating: (432)	Hi, yes, it should be possibel to use the second port for ASCII to your HMI. But you need a additional RS232 PC-PPI cable because the PLC port is RS485 not RS232. hope this helsp

Please explain how the communication works? Regards Ashwin. It will not work without any converter.. Because, as Helmut_13 said, PLC doesnot have any RS 232 port. So you must have to convert signal from RS485 to RS232, either using PC-PPI cable or by any converters... Regards, Devesh Vithani
