S7 200 Cpu 226 Encoder Read

Rene611 Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hi everybody I'm woking on a school proyect in wich I'm trying to do an inverted pendulum and thePLC that is used is the S7 200CPU 226 and I know that this has 6 High Speed Counters but I read in the manual that the logic signal on the inputs must be from 15 to 26V on this cpu and the encoder I have has a 0 to 7 volt pulse output so I want to now if there is a way to make it work with this CPU. The encoder is a quadrature type I hope you can help me solve my doubts because this proyect is going to give me my engineering degree so I need to make it work. Thanks Everybody!!

Helmut_13 Posts: 2930 Rating: (432)	Hi, change the PLC to a S7-200 PLC 224XP. A 224XP has 5V inputs (0.3, 0.4 & 0.5). You can use HC4 & 5. Your S7-200 PLC 226 does not work with 5V inverters.

Ok thank you very much but only the cpu 226 is available so is it posible to amplify those signals with op-amps? or any other way that does not involves changin PLCs I hope someone can answer me.

adam_ski Bronze Member Joined: 4/9/2010 Last visit: 7/4/2025 Posts: 236 Rating: (34)	I had the same problem with mass flow meterpulse output. I connected the positive transmitter signal through 1kOhm resistor to the base ofNPN switching transistor I bought in pack of 10 at Radio Shack. Adam.
