Hi, Is it possible to save crucial data from DBs into e.g. MW files/addresses, then download back into the DB when the CPU starts up again ? I am using a S7-315-2DP. I assume that I am facing thesame issue. Thanks ScodeS Splitted from DB data is lost after download PLC program. |

Hello ScodeS to begin with, you are not quite facing the same problem as 1200 user do at the moment. 300's and 400's allow you to download individual blocks (a 1200 currently requires to always download the whole program which will hopefully change in the future). Also, all DB's are by default retentive in a 300 or 400 so you won't loose values when the PLC restarts (not so in a 1200 where you'll decide on a variable by variable basis what is retentive and can currently have a maximum area of 2 KBytes as retentive). As such I can't seethe need to reload them on PLC startup from a memory area. If you do however download a DB you will download its offline "actual" values which overwrite whatever the last online actual values were. One way to avoid that this potentially becomes a problem is to first copy the online DB into the offline folder, make any required changes to it and then download it (you'll now only "loose" any online values that changed while you edited the DB offline). Anyway, some more useful info on this subject is in the FAQ below and I hope this helps: What is the significance of the initial and actual values of a data block? How can you back up the actual values of DBs and bit memories? Retentivity behavior of S7-300 CPU 31x and complete devices C7-6xx with MMC Retentivity behavior of S7-400 CPUs and the CPU 318-2 CPUs |

That is a big problem for me also; I haven't been able to get a answer on this on either |
