Error message when trying to go online

Dixie1808 Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	I am trying to go online but I am only getting the error message "UNIDENTIFIED CHARACTER FROM THE AS". plc - 115L CPU 942 cable - 6ES5 734-1BD20 adapter - 25-pin to 9-pin plugged on COM1 pc - desktop, Windows 98 software - STEP 5/ST V7.12 What is wrong with my system???? Help?????

Try starting up in dos ( not via windows) , looks like there is a problem with the serial comms , check the cable .Also some S115 CPU's have two ports ...USE THE BACK ONE ONLY , that is usualy the one you can't put the cable in properly. The top one is used for OPs

IBN-Service Posts: 8946 Rating: (1000)	Dixie1808 ... adapter - 25-pin to 9-pin plugged on COM1 ... DANGER!!! Do you have a SIMATIC - PG? If not, you have a big chance of destroying your port in due thatS5 has TTY 20mA and NOT RS232 port! You need an adaptor, use search function!
