Device specific parameters from GSD file. How to change them online ?

ATMega128 Experienced Member Joined: 3/13/2007 Last visit: 6/17/2022 Posts: 50 Rating: (5)	Hi all, I'm using a IM151-8 PN/DP CPU with a DP-master attached and also a VDM100 laser distance measurement device. I've imported the GSD file, configured the HW and as expected i got 5 reserved I adresses (I256 to I260). I can read the 3 bytes of distance data,the error byte and the IO byte. This works all fine. But in the properties of the slave there are device specific parameters.These can be changed and send to the device when downloading the HW configuration. As i understand these parameters are somehow written to the device before it begins to work. It would be nice to be able to switch on the marking laser from the touch pannel ! My question now is : is there a way to alter these parameters online ( from the program) . I mean to change the settings of the device online . Can the hex parameter assignment we written to the device while working, or maybe to stop the device first, write the hex assignement parameters to it and then restart the device. Is this possible, and if yes, how can it be done ? Kind Regards Johan

Rated X Posts: 1547 Rating: (129)	Hello, in general it is not possible to change the GSD file online. You have to load the configuration to CPU first. If your device supports data set read/write (SFB 52, 53) you can try it like this. Here you will find further information: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/44240604
