Step7 Installation Error: missing component

scott84 Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	Hi my problems arose when i upgraded the version 5.4.0.0 of Step7 installing the Service Pack 5 on a PC equipped with Windows XP and a CP5611(MPI) card. After that, Step7 seemed not to find the communication drivers of the CP5611. Even the SCADA program present in the PC got unable to communicate with the PLC. So i uninstalled and reinstalled The Step7 v5.4. Now during the installation i always have this error message "Onlinex.exe: unable to locate component.This application has failed to start because sn_regbase.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem" The message shows up more precisely during the installation of SIMATIC SNPB COMP (at 96% of the installastion, during the fase "registration in progress"). The effects of that are that the SCADA is still unable to write or read the PLC variables and the STEP7 can go Online but only in "Read-mode". i'll add a screenshot of the message too (even if it's in italian language) thanks in advance for any reply. scott84 Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	last news: i tried to install STEP7 5.4 with SP3. The installation worked. But, when i go to "Set PG/PC interface" on "Diagnostics" the following message shows up "diagdisp.ddl not found". The dll file, anyway, is present on "Windows\system32" .

Jazz_M Posts: 1121 Rating: (86)	Hi It seems that the Installation from the Old step7 V 5.4 SP5 is still present. It would be recommended for a fresh installation of OS and Step7 in the PC for a trounle free operation. Have fun...
