using S7 TIMERS in Software Redundancy

Ariya Man Posts: 90 Rating: (7)	Hi, I have a question regarding to use Software Redundancy in STEP 7! I remmember reading in Software Redundancy manual that using S7_TIMERS is not allowaed when you are programming STEP 7 with Software Redundancy! instead we should use IEC TIMERS! but in some programming examples that I have S7 TIMERS is used in diffrerent blocks in redundancy program, so I'm a little bit confused. has anyone had experience of using S7 TIMERS in Software Redundancy?

H_a_m_m_y Experienced Member Joined: 8/19/2013 Last visit: 1/19/2026 Posts: 148 Rating: (11)	Hi Ariya Man, as you can see in the SWR manual, it is not allowed to use S7-timers in the redundand part of the user program(http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/de/1137637/0/en chapter 7.7 "user program rules" ) because S7-timers can not be exchanged Regards !

So after changeover the timer will restart from beginning. . So you can use S7 timer only if timers having small value and non critical. .
