I have installed a number of 6RA70 drives as field exciters for DC generators and DC motors, on electrically powered draglines. To prevent nuisance F030 faults, it was necessary to change U580 so that the fault would be triggered by only maximum current actual value. Under dynamic conditions, the "sufficient voltage time area for commutation" and "curvature of the current crest curve" would cause occasional tripping.

Now I am beginning to set up similar sized 6RA80 drives for the same applications. However, the fault that appears to be equal to the F030 in the 6RA70 drives is F60300, "Commutation Failure". There are mulitple conditions that will trigger this fault, but I do not see any way to de-activate any parts of it (for example, "the current cusp has an upwards kink".

Is there any way to accomplish this?

Kind of interesting that the tech help people told me "Unfortunately, no other changes are possible" (that was the entire reply to my question).
