I'm new to Siemens PLC programming. I'm trying to monitor logic in a S7-1200 PLC. If I go to online devices it won't allow me to monitor the logic. I have a version of the program from a similar machine (not sure of the logic is the same). But the program I have is V13 SP1, and the program I want to monitor is V13.

I've tried dragging and dropping the program blocks into a new created project. It won't allow me to do that with the program blocks. If I try to upload the blocks it won't allow me due to the version difference.

Any ideas how I can do this, with out downloading a V13 SP1 program?

same problem i have faced few days ago ,

at that time i have use demanded version by plc,

then program upload and monitor successfully.

you should try it with use of V13.0 if you have available.

(uninstall V13.1 and reinstall v13.0)

Mr.Kahl may right but if problem remain same do as i do.

Unfortunately I don't have version V13 to install, all I have is V13 SP1. The FAQ did help.

Hello 

Only what you have to do is Updating your Tia Portal V13 SP1 

the Last Update is UDP 8 

maybe the PLC programmed with V13 SP1 higher than you have in your PC

Also Huggy mentioned once the Automation tool for backup purposes but  may be helpful also to get version detail. Can't remember exactly as I used it only a few times.
