I am new to Siemens Software Simatic Manager Programming and instructions.

Please help me out in using timers in different ways

Is it possible to use a single timer to operate 3 motors at 3 different timings ?

For example:

1) Timer preset value set for 50 secs

2) As Timer starts Motor 1  starts for 20 secs and then stops

3) As first motor Stops Motor 2 & Motor 3 Start

4) Motor 2 stops after 40 secs

5) Motor 3 stops after 50 secs

You can use a single timer, and compare its time output value to control various movements in your process.

On the other hand, why would you need to do so? IEC_timers are not limited in number, they do not take too much memory per timer, and the timer values are INT (representing milliseconds) so they are easy to manipulate with simple math and compare instructions.

You need to tell us what timer instruction, along with the model of CPU and the programming software you will use in your project so we can tell you what type of value will be placed in the timer output value. The easiest way would be to ask you for a screenshot of what you have actually programmed up to now...

3) Programming Software: S7 V5.5 SP3

Actually i have used 3 different timers for 3 motors. 

Instead of that i want to know how to use single timer for 3 motors to start and stop them at different timings as i was mentioned in my above question.

The S5 timers used in the S7 instructions use a coded S5Time datatype that icludes 3 BCD numbers and a timebase; look it up in the Step 7 online help. So it will require a bit of manipulation on your part to see the remaining seconds of the tomer, that you could compare to setpoints to command your motor start and stops.

One suggection is this application example from Siemens:

How do you specify the runtime for a timer via an operator panel, or how do you output the remaining runtime?

Simply extract the sample Step 7 v5.5 program attached, and use the enclosed FB200 program; use the input parameters to select S_ODT (value 3) and the timer number (T3 in this example); you will retrieve the remaining seconds counter in the output values of the FB.
