hi

i work on programming of one of the model predictive control algorithms called dynamic matrix control by scl programming and i have started it for few days. my question is : is possible to program its(algorithm) math functions like series and matirix and.... in scl?

I have no idea of the MPC. As you've already posted this question several times and each time when asked what you exactly needed there was no answer then I suppose that there are two of us now.

So all I can give you is a general answer.

In case of the SCL any numerical algorithm can be realized unless it needs recursion or dynamic memory allocation (i.e. all memory requirements must be known and all variables must be allocated statically at design time).

The SCL delivers only basic math operators and only few basic math functions for integers and floating point numbers. So there's no factorial, complex numbers and matrix operations. There's no .... as well. If you need any of them you will have to implement suitable data types and program all necessary "operators"/functions. And unfortunately nor operators nor functions can be overloaded (a lot of fancy names to be invented).

In the paper you linked to, they are using the Allen Bradley Small Logic Controller (SLC), but in the paper they misspell it as "SCL". I just want to make sure you don't confuse it with Structured Control Language.

They are not using SCL code, but Function Block Diagrams (FBD) and Structured Texts (ST). They appear to have made these blocks themselves, maybe you can find the blocks on their university website, and use it in a Siemens PLC.

Otherwise you can use the MPC 10x10 in the Advanced Process Library.

Or use the matrix operations from the Library of general functions (LGF) for STEP 7 (TIA Portal) and S7-1200 / S7-1500, to recreate the algorithm.

Or you can make SCL blocks for the operations from scratch, for example use Array of Real for matrices, then make functions that work on those arrays, but I think this is the hard way to do it (you also need to make an optimization function).

in your idea is possible to progarm and creating this advanced control( model predictive control) in tia portal?this work( progarmming function block) in which way( tia portal or simatic manager) is better and easy?beacause of existing optimaization problem i  am sure programming in simatic manager will be hard.

I have not worked so much with the TIA portal, so I don't know if it will be easier, but the LGF gives you a head start with the matrix operations.

It will certainly be possible to program it in SCL, but it might take a while.

I'm curious; why are you trying to do this on a PLC? is it for research or for some important process where the modelling cannot take place on a PC?
