As I understand you, i need to install a starter version 4.3 + additional software (simatic step 7 and something else) on the host, since an error has occurred when installing the starter about the need to install additional software.

 You got that wrong.

Of course, you may install 4.3 version and repeat all procedures.

But the main point of my previous post was:

• try to run Starter configuration software with no virtual machine;
• the version 5.1 provides an opportunity of project convertation to older versions e.g. 4.3, 4.4;
  
• any Starter configuration software provides an opportunity to check if any needed packages has to be installed. See attachment, How to do that.

2) created a new blank project in the starter version 4.5 and converted it to version 4.3

3) this project slipped starter version 4.3

the version 5.1 provides an opportunity of project convertation to older versions e.g. 4.3, 4.4;

2) I convert it to version 4.3 - the starter closes this project

1) create a new project (in version 4.3)

3) agree and save the current project in our empty and compile

5) unload the project to PG

Hello,

you can use the Starter V5.x, it support the older drives, and you can also upload the data from the drive.

The parameters in the drive are not stored in a Starter version depended format.

The ? sign can have 2 reasons:
1) SSP for device and/or version not installed
2) Starter PC and drive device not in the same IP Network

normaly the Upload sequence is:

create a new empty project

Start accesssible nodes 

select the found drive an transfer it from accessible nodes to the project

go online

upload

If i read your post i think you have a preconfigured project and would upload the online drive data, and get the error.

Have you try it with a new empty project?
