I am trying to connect my computer to an old OP3 through a PC Adapter USB A2. The problem I am facing is that both devices have a male DB9 connector (I am not able to connect the OP3 directly to the adapter and its cable is a male to male one), so I suppose I need to make male-to-female converter. Can anybody tell me where can I find the pinout of this cable?

the PC Adapter is used for Profibus/MPI, but I think the OP3 has only a serial interface.

Thus because the used adapter is not suitable for OP3.

You have to use 6XV1440-2Kxxx

Or you can made it yourself. Just follow pin assignment in this FAQ:

What connecting cables are there for connections between the operating units and the different controllers?

You will need: 

Connector 1
15-pin sub-D male connector

Connector 2
9-pin sub-D female connector

Cable
5 x 0.14mm², shielded, max. length 15m

Just to clarify, the attached image shows the OP3 connectors. As you can see there is a DB9 connector for an MPI/PPI interface and a RJ12 connector for RS232. In order to transfer a project or make a backup of the current one, is the RS232 port the only option?
