Split from TIA, know-how protection block download not possible.

I have exactly the same problem, when downloading to PLCsim Adv i get the error code: Block "" cannot be simulated check the box in properties. The problem is that TIA doesen't allow me to change the box on the modules that are giving the error code. 

PLS help we are on a tight schedule to make this work for our thesis project. 

yes and actually got it to work now, an internal library that was set to a test option, edit the type and then the discard option in the library.

Additionaly binaries must be generated in order to run blocks in a simulation (simulation need different binary as real CPU). This generation happens when you compile your block.

The setting in your project property will decide if that additional binary will be generated  during compile.

When you set know-how protection on a block, it will be immediately compiled and the compiler checks the project property to see if it shall generate the binary for simulation.

Once the compilation is finished, the protection is put on the block and it cannot be compiled again. Therefore it is important to set that check in the project property before protecting your block, if you want your KHP blocks to be simulated. Changing that setting after a protection is set will not work.

In the block property page "can be simulated with..." is just an indicator to see if the block has the binary for simulation. It is not operatable.

 Nobody who can help me with the KHP siemens blocks for PLC Sim Advanced?

We have PLCSIM Advanced installed, but the problem is we are not able to set "Can be simulated with Simatic S7-PLCSIM Advanced" on a know how protected Siemens block. For example the Siwarex_FTA function block.

 So that makes sence EHubers - but what do you do then? Delete your block and create it again or is there another workaround to achieve this bit? You can see in my attached file that the settings are set in the project properties.

This is a great suggestion. A little more information for you to process faster: You need to compile after selecting it.

This has worked for me.

Try to simulate from menu bar instead of clicking download button.

simulate from Menu bar(Online> Simulate) when TIA Portal ask in a pop up message to check for "SIMULATION S7 PLCSIM ADV" and click OK 

Online> Simulate (A pop up message-Click OK)

Hi!

1) Put that function/function block in project

2) Right click on function/function block and than click 'Edit type'

3) You do not need any changes, just click on 'Release version'

4) Remove old version of function/function block from project

5) Put new version in project and new version of function/function block  will have checked- Can be simulated with SIMATIC S7-PLCSIM

This worked out suscessfully! Thank you.

It also does enable simulation for every block within the project. I guess the checkmark in the FB properties / simulation  is just for informative purposes and not for interaction.
