matteo_85 Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Hi I'm trying to make a program on a CPU1214 in order to send and receive SMS to/from a mobile phone with a CP1242-7. I’ve used the following functions: TC_CON /TC_DISCON/TC_SEND/TC_RECEIVE, but it doesn't work. Siemens AD support says that there ther is no example for this function at the moment. Can someone please help me? Thanks

0_Einstein Diamond Member Joined: 7/7/2010 Last visit: 9/10/2025 Posts: 16082 Rating: (2514)	Ok, I've looked at the ladder logic blocks and if they are exactly as you have it in your PLC project, I see why it is not working. The REQ inputs needs to toggle ON from OFF to trigger the blocks to run. {Check the portal help file to verify for each block} You will want to put in tags for each of the outputs, done, busy, error, status so you can see it is trying, completed, and if it fails, why it failed. If you set up a watch table for your tags, you can modify the REQ inputs from the watch table to trigger the connection, send, disconnection blocks while monitoring the done/busy/error/status outputs. Display the status values as HEX so you can look up the meaning in the portal help system quickly. Post your results!

If you send a wakeup message from an authorized cell phone, does the CP initiate data transfer?

If your TIA Portal is the latest version, V11 SP2, there are hardware support packs (HSPs) and there are 3 updates available to SP2. Also, the PLC firmware should be at least 2.x, preferably 2.2 or higher. After your PLC in your project and software is up to date, the devices will show up as available to include in your devices for the project.

I want to send different messages so I set-up a db with the different texts and coupled them to 1 string that I read out when sending a message. When I send a message with a longer text before a message with a short text, the remaining characters from the previous message are put at the end of the next message. for example: sms1: 'alarm WWTU high level' sms2: 'alarm heating' When I receive sms2 it looks like this: 'alarm heatinggh level'. I've already tried to empty the string at the end of the connection by writing '' into it, but the texts keep coming. Anyone know how to solve this? thanks in advance

Hey there, If you go to help --> installed software in Tia portal you can see which version is installed. sp is the service pack you've got installed so if you install sp2 from the link huggy gave you you'll install the service pack 2. I run tia portal service pack 2 and the communication is working fine. You can find the blocks under instructions --> communication --> communication processor --> GPRScomm 1242-7

It would be really helpful to see the setup of the buffer you use to send the message out. The buffer should be a bunch of CHAR, not a string, if I remember correctly. If you use a string, the message will have 2 garbled characters at the front of the message, but your phone will probably just ignore them and only display the rest of the data. Strings are made up of 2 bytes that represent the max string length, the actual length, and then the characters that make up the string. The buffer should point to the beginning of the characters or 2 bytes past the beginning of the string (assuming you built a string and not a char array). If you set your string to '' (null string), it will reset the act length valueto 0but does not erase the data within the string. Look at the values in the watch table and you will see this happening. Visualize _msg[0].._msg[n] to see all the values of your string, then use _msg.b0 and _msg.b1 to see the 1st two bytes of your string (as byte or SINT).

I attached my program. Can you see the program and tell me how to type text for sms in program and how to send e-mail through scalance X005 switch to the server? This also must be in this program. In first circle of ladder will not be a pointer to DB11. We need to send digital signals via sms and e-mail and that will activate TC_CON. Attachment Altus1.zip (506 Downloads)

The problem already starts at the connection.(tc_con) When i put REQ high: busy: true (for 1 second) status: 16#7002 (for 1 second) what am i doing wrong? hope someone finds the reason why it doesn't work.
