Dears,
I have already installed STARTER software version V 4.4.0.3 and it does not work. When I start this software, it opens (the view of windows presented at attachment) and at the same time it freezes, crashes and after a few moments the following communique opens: ‘The application has encountered a problem and needs to close’ (see also at attachment).
I don’t know what is wrong. Installation finished without any errors.
In addition, I had installed version V4.4 SP1 but it also didn’t work and I deleted it and I installed mentioned version.

I have Windows 7 and TIA Portal V13 SP1.
Please help me if you can. I would be grateful for any help.

Now, I don’t have any version of STARTER, I removed all, because after installing and uninstalling it stopped work completely – I mean when I tried to open this program there appeared error (refers to version V4.4.0.3) and in case of version V4.4.1.0 SP1 the installation finished with error.

Moreover, the system on my computer starts more slowly – I see black screen for a while and then appears the command window C:/ProgramFiles/Common…. What is this? How can I removed it and return to the state before installation? I add that I can’t remove SIMATIC STEP 7 V5.5+SP1 OEM2 – I think it could cause that problems. I could clean C:/ProgramFiles/Common…. but I’m afraid that I could do something bad to TIA Portal.

I used CCleaner to find problems at registers – it had found many and removed it, but system still works slow during start and I still don’t have STARTER software.

any screen available for the Command box?
CCleaner is not a good idea with installed SIMATIC SW, it can cause a lot of errors.

The first problem is a crash of the STARTER SW, the crashdump shold be located in a directory "Advanced diagnostics" on the computer.

I have already removed Starter, because I thought that it's doing something bad with my computer.

Now I will install again it, but it's a little bit strange that I can not choose installation directory - Starter is always installed at the first given directory (during the first installation). 

"Advanced diagnostic"? I do not realy know where look for it.

Search on the computer for the directory !

<Programfiles> is a place holder!

on a 32 bit system is it the directory "Program Files" ond a 64bit system is the "Program Files (x86)" folder.

Windows have a search function in the windows explorer, you can use it

which step7 is installed?

from the crashdump it looks that there is something wrong with the Step7 integration of starter.

I have: STARTER V4.4 HF3 and TIA Portal V13 Professional SP1

Starter need a Step7 V5.5, normally the OEM Version is installed with STARTER if no Step7 is found.

Can it be that something is wrong with this installation?

During the installation process this time was no errors, it looked like everything was fine and installation succesfully finished.

So it looks like Starter doesn't see STEP 7 - do i properly understand? Is it possible that Starter can't work with newer versions? How about version Starter V4.5?

Is avaiable any other software with the same functionality which allows me to replace STARTER and it would work properly with STEP 7?

if you mean with newer Version TIA then no STARTER can't work with it.

For TIA you must use Startdrive, but here not all Sinamics Drives are supported.

Starter V4.5 install a newer Step7 OEM Version (support Windows 10).

I think you should uninstall starter and Step7 V5.x OEM complete from the system.

So, taking all under consideration, as a final conclusion we can say that STARTER CAN'T work with any verion of TIA, right?

If so, I have a question. If the inverter G120 was configured by means of STARTER, Can I download that configuration via Startdrive to TIA Portal without any discrepancies?

Yes, that's good idea I will uninstall Starter but there is a problem I can't uninstall Step 7 OEM - I don't know why? Have you any ideas. I mean even using Control Panel and its uninstall options it makes no effects.

yes you can Upload a configured G120 to TIA Portal with a installed Startdrive , no problem (independent which SW is used to configure the G120).

Hm if the uninstall not work you can try a free uninstaller tool or search in the registry for the uninstallstring of the Step7 V5.5 OEM and try to execute it in a admin CMD Shell.

Christoph, I have consulted with one person these things about what we were writing today and he said that he has installed TIA Portal V12 (without STARTDRIVE) and STARTER V4.4.0.3 and these two softwares work correctly. So, perhaps cooperation between TIA Portal and STARTER is not the problem in itself, but maybe problem is that on my computer I have installed TIA portal with STARTDRIVE. That’s may be a main issue.

What do you think about suggestion that on the same computer can’t be installed STARTER and TIA Portal (with STARTDRIVE) and can be installed STARTER and TIA Portal (without STARTDRIVE)?

I’m looking forward to hearing your opinion.

i have running Starter parallel to TIA V13 + Startdrive and TIA V14  + Startdrive, on the same system, this is no problem.

There is no cooperation between Starter and TIA Portal, both SW Packages can be installed parralel on the same system but have no dpendencies!

the problem is the integration of the STARTER in the Step7 OEM installation, this going wrong.
The problem can caused by an other older SW Package or some errors during the install of Step7 OEM and STARTER.

If i already say try to uninstall this SW Packages complete and then try to install the latest Version of Starter (V4.5 SP1).

Finally, everything is fine. I had cleaned my computer entirely from anything related with Starter or Step 7 OEM and then installed everything again. After it, fortunately, it turned out that Starter works correctly - the problem had to be with Step 7 OEM, after removing it completely from my computer and installing again, it's OK now.
