S7-200 vs S7-200 CN

Hello,

I was downloading a program onto a S7-200 222 CPU PLC and realized it was a "CN" model after connecting through Micro/Win.

I was able to get the program loaded onto the CN PLC, and I verified that the program worked as intended; however, I really need to know if the "CN" is identical to the non CN version.

On the CN PLC, it said it was "Made in Germany". But on Micro/Win,  the firmware or CPU had a "CN" suffix to it and I had to change to the Chinese version to get around an error when originally trying to download the program.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Siemens modified the S7-200 v2 CPUs to mke them more attractive to the South-Asian market around 2009, but the harDware is the same between the 2 families (although the CPUs will have slighty different part numbers. Look at the attachment below, taken from the S7-200 System manual, Appendix H.

The only problem you will have is with Microwin, the regional settings of the PC you run it on must be set to indian or Chinese, as you have discovered.

Thank you Daniel I appreciate your prompt response. Interestingly the part number on the 222 CPU is the 0XB0 and not the 0XB8. I believe it was purchased from eBay…I don’t know maybe the guts on the inside are a CN model but the labels on the outside are the non CN model? Nothing on the outside says CN; I only noticed the CN in Micro/Win when I got a fault trying to download the program to the PLC. I worry about the certification and safety ratings of this device when used in North America.
