FM458 runs but externally unavailable

Interlock Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	Hello all, I would like to get some help with an old FM458 module (6DD1607-0AA0, fw. v. 1.0.1). The program of the unit is to control two MD2000 drives, some of its CFC charts contain PI regulators, and I would like to monitor (and to change, if necessary) their input parameters so as to reduce some unwanted torque oscillation at the machines. Using an MPI - Ethernet interface (IBHlink), I could download the new HW config to the central 414-2 CPU (projected CPU was 414-2XG03, the real is 414-2XG04), network and hardware config are o.k., the whole system (including the FM458 with its existing program) is running without any error LED or diag. message, and monitoring the central CPU's content is also possible, as usually. Because of the old version, I had some problem with the charts but with the help of this forum, I could update all of the reclaimed libraries, and finally the CFC compilation was successful as well. The problem is that I cannot download the program because only the OmniDrive option can be selected; I am using a simple laptop without card interface, so this option cannot be used now. I already tested all of the forum tips I have found (i.e. D7-SYS reinstall, recompilation), changed the interface protocol and position from MPI to Profibus and back but nothing helped: the central PLC can be reached anytime, the FM458 cannot, no online download can be initiated. When trying to switch to test mode, or while trying to request any status info from the FM458, the message is that "Cannot open the MPI interface.", and that's it. Could anybody tell me how to continue now? I tested an other machine having a new FM458-1DP and the connection with that unit was perfect, so I think the interface, the programming environment etc. are correct. Interlock D7-SYS reinstall, recompilation Did you try complete reinstallation of all Siemens software with registry cleaning like mentionedhere? Interlock projected CPU was 414-2XG03, the real is 414-2XG04 Did you change the CPU in HWConfig in current project? Interlock Using an MPI - Ethernet interface (IBHlink) Did you try to connect without any third-party adapter, i.e. directly using MPI or Ethernet? Interlock no online download can be initiated. Did you try to select DUST1 in 'Set PG/PC Interface'? If it will not work also (could not be selected), there is a possibility to select DUST1 for all D7-SYS programs independently of settings in 'Set PG/PC Interface'. For this run the program C:\Program Files\Siemens\Step7\S7BIN\p7sdonlx.exe and select COM1 or COM2, then try to download via DUST1. To change back the selection of online interface run this program again and select 'PG/PC'. Anyway it looks like you have some problems with the project files (if you could go online with other FM458-1DP from other project). Did you try to make a copy of your current project using 'Save as... With reorganization (slow)' in Simatic manager?

Than, network config was checked as well. After consistency checking, the whole config could be downloaded without any problem. KSN Did you try to connect without any third-party adapter, i.e. directly using MPI or Ethernet? No; I do not have a direct MPI interface, and do not really know how to reach the PLC via Ethernet (although it has a CP443-1 module connected to a Unix PC using a hub, I never tried to access that connection point). KSN Did you try to select DUST1 in 'Set PG/PC Interface'?. Yes, but with D7load; in Step7, I can see the DUST1 among the available protocols but I cannot install it because after selecting it and pressing Install in subwindow of 'Set PG/PC interface', the DUST1 does not appear at the right side (and there is no error message about the reason). With D7load, it was possible to reach the FM458 for a while, the program detected the RUN status but the download procedure stopped after some time (at 0 %), and a broken connection was reported. I tried this more times with the same result. KSN Anyway it looks like you have some problems with the project files (if you could go online with other FM458-1DP from other project). I think the same... We have a plant PC having Step7 installed (the same packages), I copied the projekt (with reorganization) onto it, installed the (currently released) IBHlink driver, and made a test without any modification inside the project. The result was the same, the MPI interface cannot be open for the FM but works with the CPU normally.

Hello. There is a problem of installing DUST1 with Step7 v5.4SP3 + D7-SYS v6.2SP3 (this versions are incompatible). You need lower Step7 version (e.g. Step7 v5.4 without SP3) or HF3 for D7-SYS v6.2SP3. This problem is solved with this HF. To get this HF you should contact Siemens support. Interlock No; I do not have a direct MPI interface, and do not really know how to reach the PLC via Ethernet (although it has a CP443-1 module connected to a Unix PC using a hub, I never tried to access that connection point). If your S7-400 is connected to Ethernet, connect your laptop to this network, select in PG/PC Interface 'ISO Ind. Ethenet-> your NIC' and try to download.

Interlock Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	Hello KSN, after reading your post, I found the Siemens compatibility tool (thank you for mentioning that), and checked the whole config. Because I use an XP SP3, I downloaded the Step7 v5.4 SP5 package from Siemens, installed it, and now - theoretically - I am a bit closer to the solution. I could download the FM458 program using D7load and RS232 connection to the FM (the MPI connection is still unselectable in Simatic Manager) but there is some trouble: - the EXTF LED on the CPU is on but it can be switched into RUN state - the INTF LED on the FM is on, unit remained in STOP, restart was unsuccessful - the HW diag reports that the FM is unavailable - in CPU error buffer, there are two kind of messages about the FM (i.e. event 3 and event 10, see attachment); it seems that it cannot be known as FM458 although the correct order number appears in the hardware config (and that has been downloaded into the CPU more times), and it is plugged into slot 16 as projected How is it possible that a module with the right order number (checked on its faceplate) and placed in the correct (expected) slot cannot be seen by the CPU normally? Hello. Step7 5.4 SP3 could work with D7-SYS 6.2 SP3, but you can't install DUST1. I think with Step7 5.4 SP5 is the same situation. To install DUST1 you need HF3 for D7-SYS 6.2 SP3. Interlock I could download the FM458 program using D7load and RS232 connection to the FM D7-Load is old program. Did you look at the followingFAQ? I'm not sure that you have properly loaded the program. Interlock the MPI connection is still unselectable in Simatic Manager Did you try to make a copy of project using'Save as... I have tried everything: saving with reorganization, install of SP5 etc. but nothing helped: upload to FM, together with monitoring are running but the FM itself does not. For some reasons, I must stop here, and must look for somebody who has the right programming environment to complete the repair process. Thank you once again, and sorry for grabbing your time.
