Hi I had same problem, And I could able to solve the issue. Basically USB PC adaptor will require external 24VDC. There is a cable available from siemens which will have connection for external supply. Otherwise just supply 0VDC on pin no:2 and 24VDC on pin no: 7 of the adaptor MPI/DP port side. This will power the adaptor. And then it will communicate with any device which doesnot haveoption to supply 24VDC supply. Make sure that youuse class 2 power supply.otherwise this may damage the adaptor. Otherwise To usestandard cable from siemens, To operate the PC Adapter USB to MPI/DP interfaces which do not have a 24V supply voltage, you can order an external power supply (order number: 6ES7 972-0CA00-0XA0).
