Sentron PAC3220 System Message

Dear All,

I have encountered the following problem: I've mounted the Profibus DP module (7KM9300-0AB01-0AA0) on a SENTRON PAC3220. Since then the sentron pac3220 does not measure the voltage/current values and shows me on the display: System Message 007 UIP Task.

Did anyone have the same issue? Can the problem be solved somehow?

hi all,
I want to confirm the issue, we have it on several devices on which the ProfiBus DP module was repleaced.

Good morning to all,

so after some talk with Siemens HW support, testing and trying to get the device PAC3220 to live it was concluded and recommended by Siemens HW support "claim the device".

It seams it is issue of the PAC3220 device itself and not of the ProfiBus DP module, as far I was able to go.

It was concluded in our case that the ethernet ports on the PAC are not communicating, the green and orange LEDs on the ethernet ports shine all the time - does not matter if the ethernet cable is connected or not.

It was recommended to run diagnostic of the PAC by powerconfig - commissioning and service software.

The powerconfig is able to scan the selected ethernet network without defining subnet to scan, it is able to find device with factory default IP address 0.0.0.0 and initiate communication with it. Tested on other well working PAC3220. To modify the configuration of the PAC3220 from the powerconfig you have to unlock the hardware write protection key on the PAC. 

NOTE: The default IP address of the device from the factory is 0.0.0.0 whch not really great if you want to use something like nmap, or some other network scanner/mapper, to see if the ethernet ports are alive at least :D.

NOTE2: The flashing notification "System message: 007, UIP Task" on the PAC screen, frequency approx 2 seconds, will kick you back on main screen, so you are not able to get to the relevant level of the setting menu to check or modify something. That is quite sad due the device seams responsive, just the notification blocks the interaction with it.

NOTE3: Any external moduls or whatever physical manipulation with the device has to be done without power supply, see manual, assume the connection of the modules can cause some short circuit on the board, or something like that.
(Disclaimer: the issued device in our case notified the "System message: 007, UIP Task" was notified by the device which started to drop-out of the ProfiBus DP network and later stopped communicate completely, with no physical intervention. All the test with connecting and reconnecting of the ProfiBus DP have been done in in accordance with the device manual.)

NOTE4: The set ProfiBus DP address is saved in the momeory of the ProfiBus DP module, so in case new ProfiBus DP module is inserted the configuration through - PAC setting menu OR powerconfig - has to be done.

Details about devices:
PAC3220 - 7KM3220-0BA01-1DA0 - HW: E01 - FW: V3.2.3
ProfiBus DP module - 7KM9300-0AB01-0AA0
ProfiBus DP network speed: 500kbps

To anyone who comes across this forum thread, I too have also had issues with PAC3220 Power Meters with the error message 'System Message 0007, UIP Task'.

I have only ever experienced this issue when using the power meters in conjunction with a communications module, and it typically appears to occur after meter is power cycled.
By that I mean it has never starting to occur after the meter has been in operation for awhile.

I have managed to resolve the issue thus far by turning off the power meter, removing the communications module, turning the meter back on (the error message will appear again and keep appearing every few seconds) then after a short while turning the unit off and reconnecting the communications module. When I turn the power meter back on it starts to work as normal.

Please note that I am not suggesting this is a fix for any situation you are in, but in my case it has worked.

For reference the devices I am using are:

SENTRON PAC3220 POWER MONITOR, 24Vdc [7KM3220-1BA01-1EA0]
7KM/3VA EXPANSION MODULE E/NET PN V3 [7KM9300-0AE02-0AA0]
Firmware: Various (I have come across the issue a few times over the past 3 years)

In my use cases I am only using siemens profinet cable and connectors and S7-12 & 1500 class CPU's. Programmed in TIA V14 through to V18. I am not using the inbuilt network ports on the device and only connecting via the profinet module. 

A message from Siemens support regarding the System Message 0007 and if it could relate to potentially faulty hardware would be appreciated since the appearance of the message does cause the meter to no longer function which, in some production / usage cases could prove to be potentially dangerous, and throws in to question if the device should be used, replaced or another product used entirely. 

This post is provided for information only and is not intended for use in production environments. Although if someone else does have the issue I would be interested to know if they discover the same as me in removing and reconnecting the communications module. Maybe it could help the Siemens Dev teams in debugging?

I'm getting an error saying "System message: 007 UIP Task", 
the Profinet port has a blue light, I'm connecting to the 
computer, these 2 ports are not being recognized. I'm 
trying to connect via the RS485 module, it also can't 
scan the device. Please advise me how to fix this error.
