We've recently done window server updates and it seems it's causing an issue with WinCC.

We are on WinCC v7.5 + sp2 + Update 16 and running windows server 2019. 

We use the Webnavigator Client on windows computers to connect to our servers.

We're seeing duplicate user sessions for the same user on the same computer (see screenshot). Is there a manual way to kick off a session from the server?  We have a 'disconnect' page but it's not letting us disconnect 'inactive sessions'.

Hello, Yes that is the the page we're currently using. There is some issue with the server and you get multiple user sessions from the same computer and user.  Once this happens the Status.html will no longer allow you to disconnect a user.

We are looking for another way to kick users off until we have a fix for whatever is happening to allow duplicate sessions in the first place.

We are using WinCCViewerRT and instead of Internet Explorer on the WebNavigator Client.

Do you know this issue is still present in latest Upd 18 for V7.5Sp2?

I received an answer from Siemens support and uninstalling the KB update resolved our issue. We had another issue and haven't updated to 18. We are in the process of doing so.

thanks for sharing this information.

We added the registry key to test it, but it didn't work for us. The result was that WinCC immediately logged out the user when this one was logged in. So, we had to remove the new key,

We use WinCCViewerRT to access wincc.

I suppose that the value 00002710 is in hexadecimal, correct?

We use a 64 bits system, so maybe the key should be qword instead of dword?

We got this from Siemens Support. Think we also have 64x System.

If it doesn't help you need to create an own support request, maybe you have another Windows Build or other Updates installed.

I got some additional Info from Siemens Support today:

Under certain network circumstances, the WebNavigator client was constantly reconnected to the patch key.

WebNavigator license release disturbed by Windows Updates from July 2024

Acc. to Siemens Support it should be fixed with September Update of Windows (KB5043050). Couldn't confirm this yet, need to install it on customer PC and test.

Microsoft Patches/Updates for WinCC V7/8 stations - ID: 18752994 - Industry Support Siemens

The change in system behavior caused by the Windows Updates from July/August 2024 will be resolved by installing the corresponding Microsoft Windows Update from September 2024. Details on the Updates can be found in the download table under "Updates identified as problematic".
