As you already mentioned, the Update Collection is just a bundle of updates. It is easy to use since the installer only installs the updates for the already installed components. 

I also have experience with installing separate updates, which is just more effort if you need several components to be updated. But sometimes it is conventient. For example when you need to have a CFC update, you can just install the separate update on the ES and you won't have to touch the OS servers and clients.

Hello PCS7 experts. I would like to enquire if anyone has prior experience with installing separate updates from an updatecollection rather than the entire collection.

Per Siemens UC notes, it appears this is allowed, as a UC is just a combination of the update files, but I want to see if others have had any experiences with this in the past.

If I was to cherry pick certain updates from a UC or install all updates manually rather than via a UC, would this potentially cause any issues or have impact on future UC updates? This is a broad/general question that I would guess would apply to any UC installation.

In our case we are trying to resolve a specific bug caused by PCS7 V9.1 SP2 UC03 with the POV, but installing UC04 is causing us other issues, so instead we want to cherry pick updates from UC04 rather than install the entire UC.

Yes! Nothing stops us from installing individual component updates from UC.

It does not give you any problem.

It is recommended to download the required individual update from SIOS (As Individual components are also released along with UC as a package). It's completely left to us on how to use it. Instead of picking it from the whole UC folder.
