Dear jotey,

if run/stop led is flashing yellow, the cpu is loading the user program from the simatic memory card (and other states, please find link below). Maybe the simatic memory card is damaged and the program could not be loaded.
Do you have another SMC to try/test?

I am facing the same issue in one of my redundant CPU 1517H. Can you guide me how did you resolve this issue?

Help needed here, Upon power on, this S7 1516 CPU it hangs on CONNECTING status continuously, and the Run/Stop LED is blinking orange continuously, it cannot read what's inside the overview, diagnostics, setting, module,  but it can read what's inside the display menu.... here's a photo of it..

Photo missing.  Perhaps you can post a screenshot of the TIA Portal devices and networks for the entire project to see how the redundant network is configured in hardware?

Are you able to remove the s7-1516 from your redundant profinet network so you can attempt to connect to it directly using your PG/PC?

The CPU for which i face this issue is primary CPU of the 1517H bundle

 I have attached the pictures of the current condition of the CPU

yes, we removed the CPU to desk and energized separately with 24V PS

the following conditions experienced

1. CPU powers up and displays "CONNECTING..."

2. can't access the device via TIA portal

3. can't ping the Device IP address

4. RUN/STOP LED blinks orange continously

5. can't access any details in the diagnostic buffer, overview, settings and Memory card and any other options

tried to update the firmware via memory card v3.1.4 but no response from the CPU

What is on your memory card?  Is it the PLC project you need running on it? 

I suspect either: bad display, bad firmware loaded on PLC (reload firmware using TIA Portal - Online Access like you showed the diag buffer), or bad memory card configuration.
