Writing diagnostic tools

LateralLeap Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Via what API does the S7 Simatic toolset communicate with the PLC? Is it akin to OPC or something else? I want to creatediagnostic applications that have similar access to the PLC as the Simatic tools provide but for this access to be programmatic rather than interactive. I was hoping that there was a richer API that provided additional metadata and control functions than are provided via OPC Thanks
