I'm trying to build my own image with yocto.
I did make all the steps described in the readme files from -bsp and -example.

When I run bitbake iot2000-example I do get the following error

What can I do?

unfortunately I have to say this: Did you delete your "tmp" folder? Is there enough space on your hard drive? Sometimes Yocto isnät much fun when it comes to error tracing...

Yes there is still plenty of space on the hard drive (90 GB left).

It is a freshly installed ubuntu 16 LTS with a brand new yocto installation.
So now other files left from previous bitbake runs.

As I don't need Java on my machine, I tried to build the iot2000-bsp image.

But there I do get another error:

Unfortunately this is very unspecific, so I don't know how to solve.

It would be really very very helpfull if there is a preconfigured vm image around.
This could be an ubuntu os with yocto installed and the iot2000-bsp and iot2000-example fully configured and running.
This would be a very good starting poiint.

Is there somebody around who has a running yocto toolchain and can help me out?

I finally managed to build an image.
But I had to use yocto 2.1 and not the newer 2.2

And the error with the timestamp directory desribed in the thread "How to build an image for the iot2000" is still there. And that was described in the mid of november.
Has anyone be able to make a new image out of the Yocto toolchain?
I think this is just not working :-(

Now I'm trying to include some recipes from the openembedded layer but many of them fail.
It looks like they rely on yocto 2.2 because I do get many errors.

for example:
ExpansionError during parsing /home/siemensiot/yocto21/poky/meta-openembedded/meta-python/recipes-extended/python-pyephem/python-pyephem_3.7.6.0.bb: Failure expanding variable PYPI_SRC_URI, expression was ${@pypi_src_uri(d)} which triggered exception TypeError: getVar() takes at least 3 arguments (2 given)

This shows that the recipes from openembedded don't fit to my version of bitbake/yocto.

The lack of support is really a pity :-(
You can't use opkg on devices which are out in the field.

One question: Did you read the README.md ? Nearly the first sentence is "This uses Yocto 2.1..." and the section "Prepare" says "git -C poky checkout yocto-2.1". Also basically every other layer that is used is checked out with an "old" version, so it fits the yocto 2.1.

In your case I would try to set up a new build environment and follow the readme step by step.

Unfortunately I never had the timestamp error, but maybe its related to that Yocto version problem, so: good luck with that one...

And just from curiosity: What do you mean with opkg on devices in the field?

yesterday I did set up a brand new yocto environment with 2.1 and downloaded the recommended other layers.
The build of iot2000-example did run with some warnings and I did get a .wic-image.
But unfortunately I could not get any access to my iOT2020.

No ping no ssh does work.

Is there a way to use the serial debug interface on the 2020 ?

This has no external serial connectors.
Where can I attach the serial cable and how are the parameters (baudrate, stopbit etc.).?
