Modbus TCP crash my node-red in Simatic IOT2040

I have try several different modbus tcp node in node-red. However, the result is same. When it listening to the modbus device, it crash the whole node-red and i need to delete the flow only can recover back. Tried to read with PC modbus tool it working well Below is my node-red version in simatic iot 2040: Node-RED version: v0.16.2 Node.js version: v6.12.3 Linux 4.4.105-cip15 ia32 LE Dashboard version 2.3.11

bergmanu Platinum Member Joined: 4/28/2015 Last visit: 11/5/2024 Posts: 3345 Rating: (379)	Hi, which Example Image version are you using? You mention NodeJS version 6, this is pretty old. On the current image V3.1.1 we have NodeJS version 8. The modbus-api node does only support NodeJS 8, 10 and 12 and node-red as of version 0.18.x. Both conditions are not fulfilled on your system. I'd try it with the V3.1.1 of the Example Image. Best regards!

Keele Advanced Member Joined: 6/14/2019 Last visit: 10/23/2024 Posts: 21 Rating: (0)	Hi Bergmanu, The issue is solved as below step. 1) Install the latest image V3.1.1. 2) Uninstall the modbus node in pallete. 3) Uninstall the modbus node in directory. 4) Install the modbus node by global and v3.6.1 build. 5) Deploy the modbus node again and issue solved. I think that was incompatible modbus v5 above in node-red v1.2 and js 8. However, the image v3.1.1 is come with modbus node v5. Therefore, the node crashed the node-red flow.

I tried npm install, uninstall, with and without -g switch, editing the package.json, etc. Removing from node red palettes sometimes seems to work, but then it shows up again. Do you still have the exact putty comands you used?
