Hello Skinner; If you intend to use the Siemens (TI) 505 RBC as a Profibus-DP slave for a non-Siemens DP-master, you can download the gsd file from this link, along with manuals for most products in this PLC line: Simatic (TI) 505 dowloads, from sea.siemens.com: https://www.sea.siemens.com/us/products/automation/programmable-controllers/Pages/programmable-controllers-simatic-505-downloads.aspx?HTTPS=REDIR However, if you are using a Siemens DP-master, then the gsd file is already loaded in the HWConfig editor; see the following FAQ: Interfacing the TI505-6870 DP RBC to a S7-400 CPU Now, the gsd file includes all usable modules in the 505 line that can be connected over Profibus-DP. You simply insert a RBC as a DP-slave, then select the different modules as if you were building the configuration of a PLC. For a list of modules that cannot be usedin a RBC rack (all others can be used), see the following information: Special modules that can be used in the RBC 505-6870 DP

Hello Ryan; As stated before, the gsd file gives you access to all the insertable modules that can be used in the Profibus remote rack. If you need reassurance, open the gsd file you downloaded from the sea.siemems.com ste. Note: any text editor, such as Notepad, can be used to open it. Towords the end of the file, you will reach the "modules" section, where you will find this text (this is a partial list): Module="505-2555-STD 16AI Diff 14 bit" 0x5F EndModule Module="505-2556-STD 16 AI thermocoupl" 0x5F EndModule Module="505-2557-STD 16 AI RTD thermo" 0x5F EndModule Module="505-2580 16 DI Iso 120 VAC" 0x11 EndModule Module="505-2590 16 DO Iso 120 VAC" 0x21 EndModule Module="505-2590-A-STD 16DO iso 120 VAC" 0x21 EndModule Module="505-2590-A-BFR 16DI/O iso 120VAC" 0x31 EndModule Module="505-3508 8 DO 4.5-34 VDC 0.5A" 0x20 EndModule Module="505-3516 16 DO 4.5-34 VDC 0.5A" 0x21 EndModule Module="505-3532 32 DO 4.5-34 VDC 0.5A" 0x23 EndModule Module="505-3708 8 DO 4.5-34 VDC 2A" 0x20 EndModule Module="505-3716 16 DO 4.5-34 VDC 2A" 0x21 EndModule Module="505-3732 32 DO 4.5-34 VDC 2A" 0x23 EndModule Module="505-4008-A 8 DI 20-56 VAC" 0x10 EndModule Module="505-4016-A 16 DI 20-56 VAC" 0x11 EndModule Module="505-4032-A 32 DI 20-56 VAC" 0x13 EndModule ..... You can select each and any of these modules for your application, the number of I/Os in your slave unit will be adapted in consequence. For drives, you will need to tell us what Profibus slave interface you are using, such as a CB15, an OPMP, or a MM4 Profibus module. Or look for the file direvctly on Siemens Product support webpage. If these gsd filesare already installed in the Com Profibus directories, you should be able to retrieve them andinstall them directly to the Siemens Profibus configurator. Look in the gsd directory of Com Profibus (if I remember correctly, you may have to dig a bit). If not, here are a few samplelinks on Siemens drives gsd files (Product Suppoort, see sections FAQs and Downloads): https://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/llisapi.dll?query=drives+gsd&func=cslib.cssearch&content=adsearch%2Fadsearch.aspx&lang=en&siteid=cseus&objaction=cssearch&searchinprim=0&nodeid0=4000024&x=18&y=11 Use the same links to look for any other Siemens gsd, basically you should be able to locate any one you need. Hope this helps, Daniel chartier |
