Ugljesa Bronze Member Joined: 10/29/2012 Last visit: 10/18/2024 Posts: 102 Rating: (1)	Dear experts, I have a problem. I'm using Siemens 1214 DC/DC/DC and I enabled High speed counter on Input 0. On that input I have signal from sensor (inductive) that counts pulses on shaft of a inductive motor (one pulse per revolution). Nominal speed of a motor is 1375 rev/min and that should be about 23,... pulses per a second from inductive sensor. Problem is that i have 25 pulses per second, and in acordance to that I have 1500 rev/min. I'm moving data from %ID1000 to %MD100 and then i use conversion from UDINT to REAL. Can anyone give me some advice about using HSC? Thanx in advance.

Generally speaking, it holds that REAL numbers are specified and calculated with an accuracy of 6 decimal places. My suggestion: 1 - If you are configure your HSC to frequency measure (not as counter) check the time interval. Your read precision will always be +-1 pulse per time inteval. (23 +/- 1 Pulse per second). If your time interval are shorter (for example 50ms) your precision will decrase (12 +/-1). 2 - read with ":P" (e.g. ID1000:P). 3 - check with a osciloscope if the measure is correct (sometimes, the "world" is wrong, not the PLC...).
