mcidor Posts: 12 Rating: (0)	Hello everybody, I'm trying to use the WinAC OPC Server (OPCServer.WinAC). I have a DCOM configuration for Windows 2000 but using this configuration in Windows XP+SP2 It doesn't work. Can anybody help me? Anybody knows where can I find the new DCOM configuration for XP+SP2? Thanks in advance

mcidor Posts: 12 Rating: (0)	Thank you Chris, I've already read this pdf but If you make the configuration recommended for windows in a workgroup (Default authentication Level : None, Default Impersonalition Level:Anonymous) it works but you will find that for example : you can't change the network configuration(change the IP...), conflicts with other software... It's not a good solution.

Client (Windows XP+SP2 or Windows 2000) I use the same configuration except for the Running class configuration and in windows 2000 it works but not in XP+SP2. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm using the ActiveX component sinet_opcdata.ocx in Visual Basic 6 to connect several clients to a server with a WinAC. The error is always the same : "Unable to connect to server "OPCServer.WinAC", node "NameOfTheServer". The server and the client are both in a domain network and in order to make it works (Windows 2000) I had to enable the guest account in the server (the other option was create the account of the user with witch the client starts the session on PC-client but it's madness because there's a new user every day). I think the information about DCOM that Siemens gives for OPCServer.WinAC under XP+SP2 doesn´t exist. I'm thinking on use Keepware.

The Slot is 3, yes The server is running in Windows 2000, with no firewall. My problem is the client, it's in Windows XP+SP2 (without firewall) because in clients running Windows 2000 all works fine.

hmi Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hi, there a severeal difficulties using DCOM with XP SP2. I've got a document which shows several steps to configure in XP. Afterwards it should work! Unfortunately it is in Gernan, but the most important steps include screenshots. In case you can't understand something, feel free to ask me. Regards Kathrin
