PXC Modular BACnet/IP ALN w/BACnet MSTP communication?

JMWagner Advanced Member Joined: 2/25/2014 Last visit: 7/25/2025 Posts: 39 Rating: (2)	I have a site with Insight 3.10 and a PXC Modular Controller Firmware V3.2.4 BME 1240 that uses BACnet IP to communicate on the ALN and BACnet MSTP to communicate to the field devices. The MSTP side has multiple third party vendor devices on it including ABB VFD's, Alerton VLC's, and Trane RTW Chillers. My problem is the values of the points are not updating at the panel level or on the graphics. I'm not as concerned about the graphics updating as I am about the controller not receiving the correct information from the Alerton VLC. For instance I have a DP sensor that I use to control a bypass valve and the value is stuck. Has there been any known issues with BACnet MSTP devices failing and not reproting a failure or just locking of the values? Thank you

Charles Gress Regular Member Joined: 8/14/2014 Last visit: 12/4/2025 Posts: 18 Rating: (1)	JM, What is the baud rate on that MSTP network? Are the 3rd party devices Masters or Slaves? What is the Max Master set at? How is the MSTP network wire landed? Is it 1.5shielded pair?Is it terminated properly with the correct end of line resistors? Sometimes wiring issues can cause communication issues. There are some bug fixes noted in the Firmware 3.2.5 and the 3.3 release notes. And even though none of them specifically address your issue as stated they may be causing "knock-on" effects that surface as other performance issues. I highly recommend verifying the MSTP wiring per the "Wiring Guidelines for Field Panels and Equipment Controllers" document that can be foundon theInfolink Automation web site. And if that doesn't fix the problem I suggest updating the firmware in the panel to version 3.3or at least to version3.2.5 (free flash). Good luck! Charles
