Crash while compiling plc tia v18

QingxinF Joined: 1/24/2024 Last visit: 10/15/2024 Posts: 5 Rating: (1)	Hi guys, need help with this. I don't know since when but my tia v18 started to crash when I compile plc software. It doesn't matter if it's only changes or rebuilt all and even when I try to download to device it crashes at the end of the compilation at "Compiling configuration: Checking memory requirements of the complete program...". It happens to me in many different projects so its not the project itself. Someone knows what the "Checking memory requirements" refers? I checked my RAM, the project memory at Tools, Resources, etc and nothing. It let me compile the program blocks one by one but when its the entire plc it crashes. I also tried to compile one by one and then download to device but also crashes. I tried to delete all the program blocks but still crashes when i compile. I don't know what to do next. itafusna Silver Member Joined: 2/17/2020 Last visit: 11/18/2024 Posts: 1124 Rating: (206)	Hi, I would recommend a "Repair" for the TIA V18 installation through the Setup file of the initial installation and check that you maintain at least 20% free space on the hard drive where TIA Portal is located. Does that help?

This is the free work space on the harddisk and free space on the RAM. The situation is a bit more critical when running the software on a virtual machine. Unloading some memory resident applications may help to free up some RAM. Watching how much disk space and RAM is available while a project is loaded is needed. Do you have a problem with small projects? Or does it appear only on big projects? Or perhaps with a module module like Wincc Unified? Consider using the "Support Request" link to have Siemens analyse your situation.

But i checked disk space and ram and it still have enough free space in both so i don't know why it crashes in "big projects". My laptop has 32gb ram and more than 200gb disk free space and i work in a virtual machine which i tried with 8gb, 16gb, 24gb ram and more than 150gb disk free space. I also tried to delete some program blocks and another time all the program blocks of the "big project" but nothing, it still crashes even without any "code". Also checked in Tools, Resources (i leave a screenshot attached) if the project is too big or something and gone wrong because of space but nothing. Still have enough free space. Also in his case only some, but not all projects were effected. The only interconnection we were able to figure out was that it happed after the windows update and with projects OPC UA was enabled in hw config. If you have another system with an older windows and TIA installed, check if the same project can be compiled on the other system. regards sancruz Just found an older post, at least with the same basic exception message. Also this post was related to OPC UA and its certificates in combination with user rights on the system. Even if this is a different base topic, I think it has some similiarities.
