I need to control a stepper motor with a Siemens s7-1200

AutoGen_2594374 Joined: 10/5/2023 Last visit: 5/29/2024 Posts: 4 Rating: (1)	Hello For my project, I need to control a stepper motor with a Siemens s7-1200 DC/DC/DC PLC and a STR-2M stepper motor driver. But when I follow the wiring advice, it doesn't work. 24V for3L GND fot 3M PWM on .0 Direction on .1 and enable on .2 The only way I found is to put PWM signals in COM+ and GND in STEP but with this wiring I can't use direction and enable. Do you have a suggestion? Thank you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Split from PLC siemens s7-1200 i can work output NPN OR PNP ?. It's simply a return path for the current (or source of electrons if you subscribe to electron flow over hole flow). Romasxp Experienced Member Joined: 8/13/2015 Last visit: 11/12/2024 Posts: 85 Rating: (6)	This Stepper driver is not suitable for use with Siemens PLC DC output. Output is PNP type, it connects "+" to OUT. To control this stepper driver you need NPN output type, output must connect "-" to STEP, DIR or EN. You need to change driver to some different type. Most of china stepper drivers has separate IN+ and IN- (STEP or DIR). This would be suitable. There you would need to connect IN- to GND and IN+ to PLC DC OUT Or there is another solution - connect low/medium power NPN type transistor to the output of PLC to change output type. Transistor Base trough resistor divider (two 10K resistors) to PLC OUT, Colector to driver input.
