Hello everyone,
we are working on a project with Unified Comfort Panels in TIA Portal V20, and we’ve encountered an unexpected behavior.

When we enable the “Operator Control – Enabled by Variable” property on a button, a yellow warning triangle appears on the button in the editor. If we disable that property, the triangle disappears.

We’ve checked the following:

• The variable used is of type Bool, either internal to the HMI or linked to an S7-1500 PLC.
• The PLC is present in the project and compiles without errors.
• No specific error or warning message appears in the message window.
• The issue occurs with both HMI-internal tags and PLC tags.

Questions:

1. Is this warning expected behavior during design time?
2. Are there specific requirements for the variable used in “Enabled by Variable”?
3. Could this be a known bug or something to avoid?
4. Does the yellow triangle have runtime implications, or is it just a design-time warning?
