I have a problem that I would like help in. I am using an incremental encoder connected to my TM posInput 2 Module. And I have an AQ 4xU/I ST analogue output module giving my Drive Analogue Control Voltage. In addition to that, the Drive is already optimized with a Reference Speed of 3000rpm and I have used that value in my Axis Configuration Data Exchange with the Drive on my PLC. However, the setup of my plant/System is that for 1 encoder revolution (Mounted on the Load), the motor will rotate 3834 times. And this is a proven calculation.

I am using the using the Quadruple encoder signal evaluation with the signal type (A,B,N) all connected. The increments per revolution of my encoder is 6069 and because it is quadruple evaluation, the steps per revolution are 24384.

My Issue is that I am unable to put 1 on the encoder reference speed because it is taking 6 as the lowest/minimum value it can take on my PLC but that is not correct. In actual fact, for 3000rpm of the motor, the encoder/load would only rotate 3000/3834 times which is 0.782 times. It would not complete the full revolution. I would thus like to ask how I am unable to change the encoder reference speed from 6 to a lower one. I would be comfortable putting a fraction of 0.782 there but using 1 would be close. Now because the system is already in production and I am only changing the control, I would like your help with that or at least direct me to where I am going wrong. Please kindly help in this one before I get myself into trouble.

Yes, I have done that with my motor revs at 3834 and Load at 1. That is good, however, it is on my PosInput 2 Module that I am having a battle. I am setting up the Encoder Reference Speed which I think is rev/min. Please look at the attached image. The increments per revolution, I go those from the Encoder Datasheet. It is the Reference Speed that I am struggling to because it would be less than 1 if my understanding is correct. If not, may you kindly help me with that.

Good day Tech, Thank you for the response and it propagated a long and wide read. However, I could not find something. In the attached picture there is the Parameter Reference speed. May I kindly ask what speed is that?. Is that the Encoder Speed when the drive is running at its reference speed?. My main issue as well is this, Why is it that I am unable to put a number lower than 6 as my reference Speed?. I have an encoder that does not turn at least 6 times at the Drive reference speed. I would like to lower that parameter and may I kindly ask how I can do that. please?. Another question, is why is it locked at at least 6?. The unit for it is 1/min, is that Revolutions/min on a Rotary Encoder?. May you kindly clarify that parameter for me please. The help function and documents are not helping my for me and they are a little confusing. Please see the attached.

Thank you for your response and it is a little better and I think I am getting there. Please see my TO  configuration attached below. My Reference Speed is 3000 and is exactly the one on the Drive. I have an external Encoder mounted on the Load side. So my Encoder Speed is precisely the Load Speed that I am controlling. My Load will move 1revolution in 3834 motor revolutions. Should My reference Speed on the Encoder Module Parameters be exactly 3000rev/min as is shown in the image below?. That would mean that reference Speed is not exactly my encoder speed at Motor Reference Speed, am I right?. I think you have helped me clarify my question now and I hope it is much simpler to answer me now. . .

Good day Tech, I got that and I am still not being answered. I have that document but the section 4.2.2.2 just says U/min. What is the unit there?. Is it the encoder Rev/min?.

I have an Load Side Encoder System and it is a rotary system. My Drive is optimized at 3000Rev/Min and the The load completes a full rotation of 360degs when the Motor runs 3834 revolutions. That gives me a Load Gear ratio of 3834:1 for Motor to Load. That is correct and I have verified that. However, the encoder is attached to the Load side and the load will only move 0.782 times when the Motor moves at 3000rev/min. Since the encoder is on the load side, that means the encoder will also move 0.782 times like the Load.

According to me, if the 4.2.2.2 is the Encoder Rev/min like I think, then I should be able to put 0.782 rev/min. If the U/min on 4.2.2.2 is Encoder Rev/min, then 6 as the minimum limit is too high for me. How else should I change that and may you kindly advise please. If it is not Encoder Rev/min, what then is that U/min?. What is that unit?. Could it be deg/min of the encoder?. What is the U/min on the Encoder Module Parameters?. I have all the documents and they seem to be pointing to the enc rev/min on 4.2.2.2. Which will be the equivalent to the Motor ref speed at 3000rev/min. If not, what then is U in U/min on 4.2.2.2. I do not find it anywhere and hence me asking for help here. Kindly help me with that please. At 100% motor speed of 3000rev/min, the Encoder move at 0.782 rev/min. . . .
