How to configure IE/PB Link as PN/DP Coupler

I need some guidance on how to use the the IE/PB link as a PN/DP coupler. Looking through the forum I came across this post, saying it is possible:

The manual linked in the above post mentions using the RDREC instruction to read the I&M data record, but not much else.

The setup I have is a 1515T connected to the IE/PB Link on the ethernet side, and a 314C-2DP on the profibus side.

I have the IE/PB link setup as network gateway in standard mode (I believe this is the correct setting), and i want to exchange 64 bytes of data between the two systems, but I don't understand how to configure the exchange.

Do I have to use Put/Get Functions? Or do I need to use RDREC/WRREC or RD_REC/WR_REC?

here is important to know how exactly each side is configured (as IE/PB Link role). In case of access data I think standard I/O access to your defined I/O slot can be used, no need any special blocks in my opinion. Special blocks are used to read some I&M data. Describe better what you did in cfg. You can ZIP screenshots and attach ZIP file here, you can also describe screenshots to have better look to your expected cfg.

pls be kind show more cfg screenshots. Where is your mentioned 64 Byte data exchange defined? Your screenshot is cutted so no other infos visible. Hope then we can give you better help...

But what I am having trouble understanding is how to send/recieve the data. There were no other items in the hardware catalog that could be added (Like the "64 Bytes input" you would add for a DP/DP coupler). So I dont see how you could use standard IO access.

The data I would want to send would be in a DB, and if I need to use special blocks I could use a pointer, say P#DB100.DBX0.0 BYTE 64, but I couldn't find any HW identifiers for the device, if I was going to use communication blocks.

I ask again (as in my first post) how is that S7-300 configured. Side after IE/PB Link can be accessed as DP Slaves existed on bus (IE/PB is PN IO Controller) and can access PB Slaves as I mentioned via standard address access. I recommend create S7-1200 as alone device, add IE/PB Link and configure it and add also f.ex. ET200L 16 DI/DO device. This can be like PN IO Device accessed. Try create some HW cfg with different role to see how it works. Next situation is set it to Standard operation and then on PB side is already some PB Master with Slaves and you are next actibe node on this network accessing Slaves. If you set S7-300 as Slave and define it as Slave then you can create slots inside. As is Master already with its network then maybe you can access it with S7 PUT/GET (S7-300 is Server) but I must say that I don't have this Link to test it but from description and TIA Help is clear what functionalities it has.

 Hi , I understood your issue as I am facing the same. If you want to communicate between two PLC's (controllers) using IE/PB then the other side should be a profibus slave , if its a master then we cannot use only IE/PB to transfer data as the profibus port on the IE/PB acts as a master and can only be connected to profibus slaves. That is the reason you cannot get any GSD or data transfer bytes from the hardware catalog. In my case as i lalready bought IE/PB  i will be using a DP/DP coupler again to communicate with the pther PLC which is master. Hope this explains!
